The Whitsunday Paradise estate located 10 minutes’ drive from Bowen, is set to include a range of new developments including a petrol station, hotel, childcare centre and sports field.

The masterplanned community, produced by Planit, will see 2000 dwellings for up to 5000 people constructed across 10 stages, increasing the Bowen population by 50 per cent.

Planit lodged the first development application in June 2018 with four stages;

  • Approval for a variation request, meaning the development can befall on the site for a united residential and commercial estate;
  • Development approval for a material change of use of the land, permitting two food and drink outlets, a hotel, outdoor sport and recreation area, service station, shopping centre, health care services, five shops and a supermarket;
  • Approval to divide four lots into 198 lots for residential, commercial, drainage reserve, park, roads and access easements usage; and
  • Approval for bulk earthworks to make these stages possible.

Greater Rewards General Manager, Blake Thomas told Industry Queensland the Whitsunday Paradise is a 20-year commitment from the group, with intentions to be a long-term partner in future of the Bowen region. “Whitsunday Paradise will have more than 50ha of dedicated green space incorporating Mt Bramston, the foreshore and a series of parks,” Mr Thomas said.

The project includes a range of traditional houses, townhouses, units and potentially tourist accommodation, contributing to the regional economy. The development will be completed in stages, with the first planned development to include 200 new housing lots, an AFL field with clubhouse and a service centre with food outlets.
