As part of the works for QM Properties’ Pacific Cove Estate, Planit was commissioned to design and undertake contract administration services for the 9,126m2 local recreation park within the Stage 1A precinct. The local park builds on the inherent natural qualities of the landscape. The site topography grades from a high point within the estate down to a natural vegetated environmental corridor and creek line. Planting integrates with the natural environment on the southern boundary, utilising native species that create an identifiable character, connecting the park with greater landscape.
The northern, eastern and western boundaries provide path entry points with tree-lined road frontages. Meandering paths direct users through and around the park. Shelters and seating protect and enhance views across the park and beyond the adjoining creek.
Large undulating open turf areas surround an active park node. The playground (740m2) is terraced into the site with stepped sandstone block retaining walls providing both informal seating opportunities and facilitating the level platform for the active space areas. Ex-ground Waterhousia floribunda species are planted amongst the play equipment to provide both spatial definition and also future shade. A giant treehouse acts as the landmark within the park.
